KITCHENER — Police have charged two Kitchener residents with causing and permitting distress to animals, after four live kittens were found in a tied garbage bag in the city’s Southdale neighbourhood.
A 37-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man were charged Saturday following an animal cruelty investigation by the Waterloo Regional Police and inspectors from Provincial Animal Welfare Services.
The kittens were found March 28 by a passing resident, who called police. The resident brought the kittens home and cared for them while waiting for help.
The kittens are now in the care of the Humane Society and are reported to be in good health.
Members of the public are reminded that if they witness animal cruelty they should contact police at 519-570-9777 or Provincial Animal Welfare Services at 1-833-926-4625.
