The Krewe of Omega, which formed in 1987, was named for a college fraternity, according to a report on WDSU. Based on the krewe’s Facebook page, paradegoers should look for cute, hand-decorated plush alligator throws.
Based on the krewe's apple-shaped bead medallions and plush and sequined snakes, we’re going to go out on a limb and guess that this all-women organization has something to do with that long-ago Garden of Eden scandal. The krewe first rolled much more recently, in 1987.

The Mystic Krewe of Olympia was named for the earthly home of the Greek god Zeus and the site of the Olympic Games (no, not Beijing, silly. We meant the original, ancient Olympic Games). The parading organization was formed in 1965 to bring a classic New Orleans-style Carnival parade to Covington. Led by Zeus LVI, the 300-member, all-male krewe crowned Hope Caroline Robinson as its 56th queen in 2022.
